I love watches.

I love Alice in Wonderland.

And I love Afternoon Tea…

So what could be better than being invited to the Sanderson for their famous Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea? Not much on a rainy day in London..

Hamilton Watch are known to many as the movie watch. They have an incredible relationship with Hollywood Cinema where their timepieces are used in blockbuster films and without them paying hefty sponsorship fees – which says huge amounts for the brand. Last year they were worn by Matt Damon in his lead role in the Oscar nominated film ‘The Martian’. If you’ve seen ‘Interstellar’ then you’ll know how crucial time is to the storyline, so it was amazing to find out that Matthew McConaughey’s character of Cooper also wore Hamilton.

The Sanderson provided the perfect setting to be introduced to the brand and learn about the collection alongside other journalists and fashion directors. In a crazy season of over subscribed press days, I must take my hat off to the lovely Dorothee for organising such a great way to catch up.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea is something I’ve wanted to try ever since it launched. From the red velvet ladybird cakes to the chocolate-coated and coffee infused pocket watch macaroons, combined with all the classics such as sandwiches, scones and champagne, it makes for the most wonderful afternoon. For hot tea they’ve created five signature teas. My choice was the ‘Alice’, a caramel flavoured tea – and it was divine.

There are so many great pieces to the collection. My eye went straight for the diamond dial faces which are also the highest prices points. But for more of a day watch, the ‘Jazzmaster – Open Heart Lady’ is easily my favourite. The level of detail with exposed mechanisms and mother of pearl face make it feminine yet powerful. It’s one of those pieces that will have people asking you all about it as it’s so intricate. The strap colours in a mint green and white are stunning too.

So if you’re on the look out for a new timepiece this summer, be sure to check out Hamilton.
