Brita Fernandez Schmidt is the Executive Director of Women for Women International UK – a charity I came to learn about whilst attending a De Beers breakfast just over two years ago. Brita was on a panel of women, talking about all things women… However she spoke about working with women who had been raped, tortured and starved. The charity have created and instilled positive oppourtunities for over 447,000 women who have been victims of war and conflict. It was the last thing I expected to hear sat amongst fashion journalists and stylists alike over eggs benedict, but it was also the most insightful thing I heard at the event, and probably that week. I was overwhelmed to learn about what Brita and her team achieved on a daily basis. I have supported Women for Women ever since by attending events and talking to everyone I can about the charity. Brita is a ray of sunshine and is so passionate which translates in to all that she does and makes you in turn passionate about the causes she speaks of. It was impossible not to add her, and Women for Women to my list of inspirational and life changing people, and she certainly tops the bill.

You can Sponsor a Sister and keep up to date with events hosted in conjunction with the charity. They are hugely supported by amazing brands and designers and it’s a great and positive way to be involved in an incredible and hugely worthy cause! #SheInspiresMe
